UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF ANIMAL RIGHTS
OFFICIAL STATEMENT OF MISS SOFIA TERESHCHENKO AND ‘LET’S TALK’ INTERNATIONAL PROJECT ON UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF ANIMAL RIGHTS.
Hello everyone! My name is Sofia Tereshchenko and I am author of Universal Declaration of Animal Rights!
Look, we’ve heard many many times from different groups, people and organizations that we have to stop killing animals for fur, for food, hunting, hurting animals, et cetera et cetera Many heartbreaking videos of animals suffering, photos, documentaries, trophy killings like Cecil case and many more. But not much has changed since then. And I’m gonna open you a secret why.
We have a Universal Declaration of Human Rights. That’s the border that stops us – homo sapiens from crossing that red line towards inhumanity. Do we have the same protection guidance for animals? No. And that’s why not much will change in the near 100 years for sure.
But what do these 100 years actually mean? Complete loss of endangered species, broken ecosystems, more trash and plastic in the oceans, less productiveness and therefore less oxygen, deforestation, pollution, climate change, and many more animal species on the edge of extinction.
But there’s a chance. A key to stop this inevitable tragedy in the future. A Universal Declaration of Animal Rights. Once passed and embraced by all of us, by human community, and recognized, we will give our voice to those who can not speak, for those who have A LOT to say..but can’t. Although they do talk to us, with their eyes and pleas, we just have to listen.
This Declaration, by no means, won’t be a radical tool against anything in modern society. I wrote every single article thinking about Human and Animal coexistence together, in a better world, a world where a human is desiring to be more sensitive to his brother and sister in paws.
We see a lot of shift towards animals’ wellbeing: in fashion, in makeup industry, in domestic treatment, in conservation and in ethics. But we have to realize that animals are not pretty furry toys, they have feelings, they feel, breathe, they have a beating heart as all of us, and they love.., and sometimes they cry and suffer…like us. These arguments are enough to bring down a false compilation of myths that human is a tsar on planet Earth. No, we’re all are the Children of Mother Nature, and we live in the Animal Kingdom. Animals did kindly and patiently accepted us on their land. But what gratitude do we pay them? What do we give them as exchange for their loyalty, trust and hospitality? Animals trust people even more than humans do to each other, it’s a fact. Isn’t it enough to say we must become more responsible towards them?
Or maybe, once we become more responsible to someone so different from us, we’ll become more responsible to each other too, to our kids, elders, those in need, to every single human on this planet.
Help me pass this Declaration to the United Nations.
I don’t ask for your money, I ask for your voice.
Let’s do it together!
