INTERVIEW. The senior prosecutor of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine, the prosecutor of Crimea, now a deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, as well as the most daring and simply beautiful woman, Natalia POKLONSKAYA gave an exclusive interview to the journalist Sofia TERESHCHENKO.
Natalia Poklonskaya for the first time answered questions that no other journalist in the world had asked her before.
She appeared in front of us as a completely different person: as a woman, a politician, a mother, a friend, a moral warrior among the immoral silicone dolls of our little theater called “planet Earth”. Sophisticated, humble, polite, interesting, you will never see Natalia Poklonskaya (including on official photographs or events) with tons of makeup, fuchsia nails with gemstones, or on huge heels. She is a real European. A real Crimean… And she should be an example for many women in Russia and Ukraine, on how to look and how to talk, in order to achieve success, that was previously considered only for men, yet still remain a woman.
We talked with Natalya Vladimirovna about feminism, about a spat with the Russian Imperial House, about the newly adopted laws on “fakes” and “disrespect for the authorities”, compromising evidences on her colleagues deputies, ..dinosaurs in the Bible, and as well as about her husband with Greek roots.
S: Do you regret the spat that happened between you and the Russian Imperial House? Would you rather now recover a relationship again or not?
N: To regret of anything is not in my rules. I don’t want to discuss the behavior and actions of their ancestors during the February 1917 coup. But even today they continue the same line, allowing immoral slanderers to make vulgar films about the last Russian Emperor. In addition, I do not fully understand their true mission, both in relation to Russia and its citizens. And their representative, to put it mildly, is a person of far from noble blood. Whoever likes to cheat or be cheated – please! I am not one of those people.
S: How did you understand that Ivan Nikolaevich is the very man you want to marry? Tell us interesting or significant moments from your life with your husband when you started to understand this.
N: When I realized that I feel calm with him, and when he’s absent, I miss him.
S: How do you deal with so many enemies? You are literally in the circle of enemies. Can you give an advise to all women careerists; I personally need this advice too, on how to behave with haters and be persistent?
N: One must be irreconcilable to sin, and not to those people who involuntarily are its carriers.
S: What are your dreams about Crimea? What would you like to see in the Crimea? Any specific changes or plans? Share your vision of the future of Crimea.
N: Crimea is an amazing place. This is the cradle of Orthodoxy, and the land thoroughly saturated with Russian blood. Crimea has unique nature and all the conditions for rest and recreation. Therefore, the future of Crimea is a unique resort, where people from all over the world will strive to. For the healing sea and mountain air, fresh fruits and historical sights.
S: What do you like to eat for breakfast? Share with us your perfect breakfast meal)
N: For me, breakfast is a time when you can afford something tasty and healthy at the same time. It can be salted salmon with lettuce, toasts with cold boiled pork, croissant with raspberries. Coffee of course. And a piece of delicious chocolate, too, not a bad idea)
S: What do you think about the newly voted laws about “fakes” and “disrespect for authority”. Did you vote for or against it? And why? Is it, in general, a democratic strive to adopt such laws?
N: I voted “for” on the fakes because I consider it relevant at this stage. As for the law on “insulting the authorities”, I voted “against”, because it gave the law enforcement a too wide margin of appreciation. There are other forms of laws that quite adequately regulate this issue.
S: Natalia Vladimirovna, you are a deeply religious Orthodox person, answer me on a couple of questions: a) Why is it vital for a Russian to be an Orthodox believer, to believe in God, to live according to the laws of God? And b) I want to understand where in the Bible says about dinosaurs, if you have an explanation of where the dinosaurs are in the Bible, please share your opinion.
N: The Orthodox faith sets a very serious and high moral standard for a human. Therefore, faith helps a person to remain a human, protects from moral incineration. And it helps those who fall to get up and move on.
S: How can a Russian atheist come to God? Where to begin? Please advise a recipe for a person who is seeking the Truth.
N: At the beginning of the 20th century, Russian intelligence has begun to fending off from faith, and therefore from God. Atheism has become fashionable. What this led to was clearly shown by history. Betrayal, millions of deaths and the communist dictatorship. Therefore, today, the Orthodox faith is a cure for a human. This is both a landmark and an excursion into history. Respect for traditions and respect for ancestors. One can come to faith through various events of one’s own life. Through the study of patristic literature, feats of saints, miracles of God. Faith must be kept in the heart and cherished as you cherish Him.
S: Natalya Vladimirovna, what is love? For you personally. Give us an advice on how not to lose it and how to protect it?
N: Love is a gift of God. It can wait a very long time. But when it comes, you understand everything. You understand that you do not live in vain. And then you think about how to keep it.
S: Natalya Vladimirovna, have you ever been to Greece? What would you like to see as partnership between Crimea and Greece?
N: I have not been to Greece yet. But the ancestors of my husband are Greeks. Ivan’ great-grandmother was educated in a monastery in Athens and married the son of a priest from the Russian Empire.
S: Are you no longer offended by the “nyash-myash” mainstream, do you?) Have you ever been thinking to launch your own merch line?
N: No, I don’t take offense at nyash-myash anymore. Besides t-shirts with my image are being produced already for over 5 years now, without my involvement).
S: Compromising evidence on deputies. Tell us as more, if possible, whether you will publish it, full, with surnames, or do you have a different kind of plan?
N: There is no plan. It was important for me to talk about the types of conflicts of interest and corruption that I encountered with as the chairman of the parliamentary anti-corruption body. But this body has been eliminated. Therefore, today I do not know how the verification ended. Therefore, I can’t name anyone either. All questions should be addressed to the new commission now.
S: Do you have a lot of friends? How do you usually spend your days off? What do you like to do? What are your hobbies?
N: Camping is the most enjoyable and effective. Of course, my closest people should be nearby. Sometimes we run away from everyone with my husband. I won’t tell you where.
S: What do you think about women’s rights and feminism? Of course, in an adequate manner, without excesses. In your opinion, does the situation in Russia adequately correspond to modern standards of non-discrimination on the basis of sex, in relation to female politicians, journalists? Or do we still have problems with this?
N: In our country, women very often dominate in families. Thus, not motivating men to be men. There are many women in business. In the public service. Women are successful and, I am sure, do not feel discrimination. Domestic violence is present in all countries and its effective prevention is more important than the adoption of any special laws.
S: Your wish to the Women of Greece.
N: There are many wonderful traditions in Greece: to name the firstborn girl after her husband’s mother, to respect family traditions, to drink wonderful coffee, to cook deliciously, to be a hospitable housewife and beloved wife. May all these wonderful things always remain with the women of Greece!!! Health, love and be sure to find your happiness!
